Journey ~ Day One

You ever have those moments in life when you ask yourself, “Was that me? or was that God?” I’m sure you never talk to yourself like I do, but I am always trying to verify that little voice in my head. I think we have all secretly wanted those moments from God where He would write out the answer to our questions on the wall or put a secret message in the foam of our lattes. Just make it simple and easy, Lord, so that we can know the answer is from you and we can move on with our lives.

This summer I have begun a new journey in which I have learned more about hearing from the one true voice that will guide me in this walk. It’s not my crazy Okie voice which is the little person inside me that tells me I need an Oreo cream shake from Braums at 9 o’clock at night. No. It’s that still small voice inside that quiets my fears and always leads me in the right direction. I am learning how to listen more to God now than ever before. I am finding out that it is ok to be still before Him, and just listen for Him. I don’t HAVE to say anything! What a concept! I can just sit before my God and soak in His presence. I have found that my relationship has grown in my new found prayer closet (which happens to be the guest bathroom). 😉

Different things have cropped up in my wonderful life with Jared and Brooklyn that has brought me to writing this blog. Remember that whole “write it on the wall” thing? Well I didn’t have one of those moments, but my God spoke very clearly to both Jared and I about a new direction for our family. That direction reminds me of a specific story in the Bible. It’s the story about Joshua and Caleb in the book of Numbers 1. They were not afraid to face the giants in order to receive the Promised Land. What seemed like impossible to the rest of the people, Caleb and Joshua knew that The Lord would come through and give them the land promised to them. Though the people doubted, Caleb and Joshua did not doubt God.

We were faced with a lot of doubt because of our God-given opportunity. But I have found in these past weeks that my eyes are so much more open to the promises of God. We are following the Lord and we know He will provide. So I want to document that here. I want to give thanks to my God for all that He does. I want to be able to look back, years from now, and remember how my God provides. That every day is a new day. A new day given by The Lord. It’s a day that I will never get back. So I have to make it count.

I have a good friend who started blogging 10,000 reasons. If you give 27/28 thanks everyday for a year, you will have given 10,000 reasons that your heart is blessed. If you haven’t heard this song, you should really listen to it.

Here are the lyrics:
“10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)”

[Chorus]
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

[Chorus]
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

[Chorus]
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

[Chorus x2]
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

Jesus, I’ll worship Your holy name
Lord, I’ll worship Your holy name

Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
Jesus, I’ll worship Your holy name
I’ll worship Your holy name

I am beginning this one year Journey to glorify my King. Some days may be generic, and some may be more specific. My point is to let His name be praised. I can’t ever thank Him enough for all He does for me. I love you, Lord.
